Happy Cactus Counseling offers individual counseling services to adults 18+.

During your first session, I will ask you questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counseling. Together we will discuss goals and what you are seeking to get out of counseling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process.

Your initial intake will be around 75 minutes. A typical counseling session after this is 50 minutes, although session length may vary depending on your specific needs and preferences. 

Intake - 75 minutes: $215

50 minutes: $150 

90 minutes: $225

Happy Cactus Counseling takes both private pay and insurance clients. I am are currently taking Aetna and Optum/ United insurances. To know more about your benefits I highly encourage you to contact your insurance directly about your mental health benefits. 

Happy Cactus Counseling is insurance credentialed through Alma (https://helloalma.com/), you may have them verify your benefits or reach out to me and I can complete that process as well. 

For private pay clients: I can provide you with a SuperBill, if you have a mental health diagnosis, for potential insurance reimbursement. Contact your insurance company directly to inquire about potential reimbursement as I cannot guarantee reimbursement of therapy costs. 

Yes! I offer both. I offer in-person sessions to clients in the greater Phoenix area and online with HIPAA compliant video sessions.

Yes, all new client forms must be completed prior to scheduling your intake session. An email containing this paperwork will be sent to you.

I typically return calls, texts, and emails at my earliest convenience.

I require a 48 hour notice for all cancellations and reschedules. Failure to cancel within that time frame will result in a charge of my full private pay session fee. This applies whether you are private pay or utilize insurance. You are subject to the same fee if you are a no-show or miss consecutive appointments. 

Please call, text, email, or use your client portal to cancel as soon as possible. 

Consistency in counseling is key, if you are more than 25 minutes late to your appointment I will assume you are forfeiting your session time and you may be charged accordingly. 

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care  providers and healthcare facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of  scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith  Estimate” of expected charges.

Under the law, health care  providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not  using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical  services, including psychotherapy services.

• You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.
• You  can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose,  for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
• Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

TL;DR: You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your mental health care will cost. 

What you say in session stays in session UNLESS: 

1.) Someone is hurting you

2.) You want to hurt someone

3.) You want to hurt yourself

4.) There is suspicion of child or elder abuse

5.) You sign a release of information, giving permission to Happy Cactus Counseling to shared with another trusted entity
